paving the way for corruption

now more than ever we need strong opposition to provide checks and balances

our gov is paving the way for corruption, nepotism, partisan politics

now more than before it seems likely the people in power will rally behind their party over and above good ideas.

they are insecure.  havent been tested like previous generations of leaders.

shanmugam is a ferocious guard dog. thug.
pap should have denounced dr wan's post . it was rounda bout, with leaps of logic and incedinary, insulting to minorities. instead of denouncing that they are standing up for it.
shameful.

lines this morning

raindrops glittered in the headlights as the oncoming car rounded the corner towards me, a rain of diamond studs

art does not tell the truth. it tells truth

the truth would be , for example, that I have watched my children for nearly 12 years.
I say 10 in the poem it doesn't matter! 10 12 not important here. watching them is truth.

walking in a thunderstorm brings out joy in me and I speak, unrestrained to complete strangers, joking in loud voices about fruits being fresher in the rain and how wondrous the downpour is.

mushrooms

Wild mushrooms have sprouted
on the curbside green
---‐-
If I stand here by the curbside
all day long, in the rain
will I see mushroom sprout,
spread out and grow?
I'm not sure.

I've been watching my kids
near 10 years now.
I haven't been able to
catch them at it,
yet here they are
one, nearly at my height.

Maybe this magic
happens only at night.
Invisible threads tug
at fingers and toes
inch by inch
until they tower over us
in height, love and beauty

Maybe we are not meant
to see this change unfold
lest we grab hold,
unwilling to let the baby fat
disappear,
the cheeky grins, lilting words
knowing air
shed like old skin.

We just go about our days
reminding them to brush their teeth
pack their bags
drink their milk
and suddenly they stand
extending their arms down
to comfort us

while we cant hold them
we can hold fast
each fleeting moment
as it passes
so we at least notice
there are mushroom here where there were none before

artsits

artists
are unnecessary
we need only people
who say Yes
yes yes yes
rising in orgasmic crescendo
in a sick bdsm game
you hold the power the whip
we bend over and scream in ecstasy
hit me baby one more time
we never say a word
against you
if ever we do
only in hushed tones
for then we have to say
do we want Jones back?
4 legs good 2 legs bad
till we say 2 legs good 4 legs bad
and we dont event realise it

what I enjoy about hbl

mornings afternoons nights filled with piano music by my son
a dream by my dad
for his daughter to play the piano
led to this
he took me for classes
I played
he appreciated
I never took off but I stayed in touch
then along comes this boy
he takes to it like a dream

wondering 🤔

I'm watching a lot of important movies movies. thinking about things
I ask myself push comes to shove how would I act
would i have the courage to do what is right or would i do what I have to do to survive
if I were in America now, would I turn up to protest, knowing my life could be in danger
if I were a policeman in America would I wield a tear gas canister and.shove old folks to the ground or would I take a knee?
these are choices people are having to make
how would I choose what would that say of me
if I were a German in Hitler's time would I say hail Hitler and gas people? or would I stand up to him and get gassed myself ?

America and floyd protests

America is seeing massive protests
 7 days or more.
protests are a plea to be heard
instead of extending a willingness to listen trump is sending the army after them
the way the police and national guard are behaving they look like hooligans
like the world turned upside down
nurses care for protesters who have hurt by the police and these nurses and injured are fired on again by police

people are shoved off streets with such force. they are bleeding. because the police hit them!

on the other side, after the murder of floyd
1. the four were put on paid leave. paid leave!
2. then they were sacked
3. then main guy arrested on 3rd degree murder
4. now his charge is 2nd degree murder and the other three have arrested for abetting the crime

all four should have been sacked and arrested the minute it happened!

it's taken more than a week of protests across the country and world for even this basic charges to be brought upon them!
without they would have just gone on leave and back at work the next week to kill another black man

unbelievable usa.
that man clears protestors to take a photo of himself holding a bible in front of the church

now the churches are mad. they are a prop!

rain

every morning after the rain
mushrooms pop up by the kerb side
if I kept vigil by that kerb
under my umbrella all day long
would i see them pop up, rise and spread out?
or does the magic only happen
in the dead of the night
when no one is watching?

reflections after George floyd

George floyd is a black man who was accused of using a counterfeit note. a policeman caught him for this, pushed him on the floor and kneed him for more than 8 minutes. George was saying I cant breathe.  the policeman did not let up. he kept his knee there till he died. the whole thing was on video . passers by were telling him to let go.
this is murder

in the case of George floyd and others, one is presumed guilty until proven innocent.
same applies in SG, two employers of maids at least are made to feel like criminals and treated like criminals though they protested their innocence.

from the time of ramayana to now, it is enough for an accusation to mar your reputation and your life. regardless of guilt.

that policeman must have thought he could snuff out his life and it wouldn't matter. like how I step on an ant. that ants life is gone its family would be devastated but I wouldn't normally think about.
if I think about I care, even about destroying that ants life.
but the police see a black man and he is just another black man. dispensable.

a college professor was called aside coz he fit the description. of a man accused by a white woman of stealing her purse. so he had to wait for her to come and say it wasn't him.
his work his I'd cardx nothing mattered.only the white woman's word.

another black man only feels safe walking around with his daughter and dog. with them he is seen as a loving father, harmless dog owner .otherwise he is a threat.

a white woman said she would call a cop and say an African American man was threatening her. that she could say that with no basis speaks volumes for her power and privilege and the lack thereof of black people
